Frequently asked questions

See below for a list of calling features you can add to your phone service, and learn how to use our calling features here.

When will I get fiber?

We do plan to bring fiber optics to areas that still have copper service and are working on construction plans. The first area of construction includes a portion of the Williston exchange which we intend to begin this Spring/Summer/Fall 2025. A letter and information will be going out to the customers involved in the project. In the meantime, if you’d like to leave your name and address with our engineers, they’re keeping a list of interested customers.

Can I continue to use my Nemont email address?

Nemont has shared that they will discontinue their nemont.net email addresses effective June 1, 2025. We would be happy to get you set up with an NCC email account, which is free of charge to NCC Internet customers. Please call our office and we would be happy to help you.

Will this affect NCC member’s capital credits?

Our current capital credit practices will remain the same. NCC members will retain all current balances and continue to earn capital credits based on their patronage.

Will Nemont member’s capital credits transfer to NCC?

The capital credits that a member earned with Nemont will stay with Nemont. NCC does not acquire any of their capital credits with the sale. Members will receive those capital credits according to Nemont’s policy of retiring.

Will I become a member of the NCC Cooperative?

Customers in the areas of Ambrose, Fortuna and E. Westby will be assimilated into the NCC cooperative. Customers in the remaining areas will not immediately be part of the cooperative due to the large investment being made on upgrades to the network and customer premise equipment. This will be reviewed on a regular basis.

Will I still have local customer service and someone to answer when I call?

NCC does provide local customer service on the phone and on premise. After hours support is available over the phone by calling our office, and employees are on call 24/7/365 for emergency outages.

NCC also has a retail office at 111 Railroad Avenue in Ray and 421 Main Street in Williston with the following hours Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm.

Will rates change?

NCC’s rates are similar to what you are being charged by Nemont; and we will continue to honor those rates for a time post conversion of the billing. At some point, we will switch customers over to the NCC Internet plans and pricing. We are in the process of reviewing all Internet plans and pricing, but you can visit nccray.com for current plan and pricing information.

When will I start to see a bill from NCC?

The final statement you will receive from Nemont for services will be in April. The first bill you will receive from NCC will be on or around May 1st for services in the month of May. Because of NCC and Nemont’s different billing cycles, you will see portions of your subscriber fees. As soon as the data conversion happens you will receive a letter from NCC with more details, but please call our office at 1-800-245-5884 if you have any questions.

Are we still paying through SmartHub?

We do utilize SmartHub and the SmartHub app for an online payment and service upgrade feature. You will need to re-register on SmartHub with your new NCC account number. You can obtain your NCC account number either by finding it on your statement from NCC that you should receive the first part of May or by calling our office at 1-800-245-5884.

Are you keeping the office open in Williston?

There are no plans to close the Williston office. NCC will have employees located in the Williston office to accept payments, initiate service, report troubles, etc.
